advice needed - nits and party tomorrow

hi not sure what to do..on regular comb through found a nit - a live one only ever found eggs before so feeling a bit sick ..but question is ds due to go to party tomorrow full of 2/3 year olds and possibly some babes...hair clean now as much as I can see and would rather not use chemicals but, should we duck out of party or would a couple more comb thrus between now and party be sufficient or is it worth usung hedrin tonight? would that make sure they are gone.... or should we treat and still not party ds would be v upset as v close friend but is only 4... any advice thanks

If it is only one live bug, then you may have caught it before it layed eggs.

I wouldn't miss the party - just do a comb through tonight and again tomorrow.

BTW, I never use chemicals - just mostly rely on picking them out - but then I can see them very well in my dc's hair when they have them

Douse in tea tree oil this evening maybe?

I don't think any of those products work do they? Hedrin, full marks et al. I think only a thorough comb through every night for 14 days does the job really. You have to be rigorous.

Don't miss the party because of it though - definitely not.

Comb with conditioner and send her.

Proper combing is nit treatment, it's all we do. And with 3 dds with lots of hair between them we get a lot of practice. We have tried chemicals and hedrin and so on but the condition-and-nitty-gritty works as well as or better than anything else in my experience. Plus it means you don't put chemicals on their heads.

do the conditioner and nit comb then tie her hair back for the party you dont need to go around telling everyone it will be fine

thanks will re- comb condition tonight have nitty gritty....to hand and dvd ..after dinner treat may do tea tree as well just to make sure as haven't tried that before ...

I would do Hedrin if you've got it (it's not a pesticide but a nit suffocating stuff) just to be sure you've got them all, then just carry on.
