Baby Seats in the Front of Vans and Cars

Is it legal to put a baby seat in the front of a vehicle. DS is 2 months old and in a Stage 0 Maxi Cosi.

We are thinking of buying a van with 3 seats across the front, but no back seats. In my mind's ear I can hear my dad telling me as a child "Children aren't allowed in the front" - but that would have been over 30 years ago!

Think it's ok as long as there isn't an air bag

yes - as long as it has no airbag - or the airbag has been deactivated, and has a proper 3 point seatbelt (not just a lap belt - though I think they don't make them like that any more).

But - it is always safer for all passengers in the back - that includes kids in car seats - so if there is an option for a back seat I would use it for preference.
