need some advice - car seats

I am thinking about buying a car seat which can be either back facing or forward facing. There are loads out there, but there is only one reviewed here on mn. I can't afford to pay for 'which?' reviews. Can people tell me there experiences please so I make the right choice as I can't afford to make an error.

the best carseta imo is a britax first class it is fab nice big seat faces both ways and easy to fit

did you have it from when your dc was small? Was wondering about head slumping. What kind of car do you have?

iirc the Britax First Class is the best in the group 0-1 convertible range - actually there aren't many others that are widely available anyway

i have used it in a sabb convertible 2006 and a 2003 toyata avensis yes i have used it from birth it i sfab the insert cushion stops head slumping

All the reviews have been great, done some searching. Was yours the Britax si or the ultra one? I can't seem to work out any difference at the minute apart from the price!

i think mine is a si the only difference is the ultra is different fabric

Brittax First class - I was told by Mothercare that it doesn't fit in a lot of cars, so try it first.

u can also go on the britax website and find out i was told that it would foit most cars as there is 2 ways it can fit forward facing to avoid buckle crunch

I have Britax First Class Si ultra. I put my DD in it at 7 months, so can't say what it's like for a newborn. It is really nice for her at 7 months, she is a very big baby so needed it to stay rear facing as she was way too big for her infant carrier. Her head doesn't seem to slump forward, even when she is asleep so I am pleased with it. It has alot to do with the slope of your car's backseat as well as the actual babyseat, so you should go and get it fitted at mothercare/similar and see what you think.

Have looked at website, it does say that it will fit in my car (golf) , but I think I might get it checked first. It does look like the best choice out of a few......four in my price range anyway! Have you seen the seat for £600 !!! My car didn't cost much more than that!

crokky....my dd is quite big too, which is why i'm looking at the bigger seats. I have borrowed a maxi cosy at the min and her legs dangle over the edge already, she's only 4 months!

oh also when it is rear facing it has got like a flip out wedge so ther head shouldn't flop forward even without cushion i personally wouldn't trust any1 at halfords as they said a carseat fitted and when i checked it with britax it didn't fit
