dd outgrowing baby bath - recommendations for chair for big bath pls?

My dd (8 mo) is getting too long for her baby bath. She can't sit reliably yet so I think I'll get some kind of chair/support to use in the big bath. Can anyone recommend any pls? thanks a lot.

I had a plastic chair thing but it was rubbish. If you sit her up in the bath and support her she will soon be able to sit by herself. Obv you still have to be there!
It can be a bit slippy, but a rubber mat can help, or sit her on a towel for some grip.

good idea, thanks Isaidno. she is nearly there on sitting up but keeps sliding onto her bum in the bath, so rubber mat would be good!

We have a fabric support someone gave us, is brilliant. Think I used it til dd was sitting (7 or 8mths). Ds is big and it's fine.

Run a shallow bath and let her lay down in it, on a non slip mat.

We got the most amazing thing from tesco the other day. DD is 6mths and can sit with support. It is called a swivel bath seat made by safety first. DD can sit up in it and loves it. We did have the fabric support from mothercare but this is much better. It even has a little toy to play with attached to the front.

The link is swivel bath seat

isaidno · 16/11/2008 14:06

pudding - that's actually the thing I found rubbish! Glad it works for you!

My 8 month old just outgrew his bath support seat and he now sits on a rubber non slip mat on his own. I keep one hand just behind him to help him. He'd slip everywhere without the mat so well worth having one!

The sit in swivel seats are rubbish imo

mamadiva · 16/11/2008 14:22

We had one of those swivel seats for DS too he hated it when he couldn't sit properly he leaned into it for support and was very hard plastic but if you could pad it out a bit at the back with summit then it'd be fine.

Jewelsandgems · 16/11/2008 16:56

We used chair like that swivel chair and both DDs loved it - but then they never did have a baby bath, I always used one of those plastic suck-on lay back supports first in the big bath so they were already very used to the big bath, and loved the independance of the seat.

Other option is get in there too! You can be sure she will not slip but it is tricky if you are bathing her alone....

We have a long bath mat with a seat attached for dd 7 months and it's fantastic. Was from Mothercare.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/11/2008 12:19

We just used a rubber mat at that age, had everything at hand, kept the water shallow and held on to her.

only just got back to this, thanks for all the replies! I'll look for a rubber mat, as it seems the best to start with, and see how we get on.
