mums & tots rant

Our local mums & tots group is run through the parish church & has a quite large membership. It isn't cliquey & most of the mums are friendly.

However, today they held an Easter egg hunt in the church & at least 10-15 parents & kids turned up who we never normally see.Once all the eggs had been found, they all trooped off again. The same thing happened at Christmas-the week all the children were promised a free happymeal (yuk),the same people again turned up,took advantage of the freebies & disappeared.

It really annoyed a lot of people there, who commented that if there is nothing 'free'going,we don't ever see these people, but somehow, they hear about events on the grapevine & turn up if they think they can get something for nothing.

Don't know why I'm posting really-it just makes me cross!

Plus,I've never been in a room with 40 odd toddlers who have overdosed on chocolate before-not to be recommended

That is annoying. We used to take people off the register after 4 weeks if they hadn't turned up and they hadn't let us know. It was one of the conditions of registration, ostensibly because we often had a waiting list so needed to keep the register up to date so we could let new people in, but more than that it was to stop this happening. You have to be quite proactive and tell people very clearly that this is the case though.

its so annoying when that happens

id be too embarassed if i was to join a group on the same day as there happened to be a freebie, so much so that i would register and go, and come back the next week!!
