Friendship between a 7yrs old and a 10 yrs old

My DS is 7 and next door neighbour is 10. They have been really good friends for the last 2 years. My worry is that now the age difference is a bit too big in the sense that NDN is starting to become a mini teenager and Ds is still a little boy (I like to think so anyway). Should I just wait for NDN to start high school so they will drift appart anyway ?

I should add thad NDN is a generally very nice boy but is language/interests are IMO too grown up for DS.

Has anyone got any experience they could share?

I wouldn,t try and discourage their
relationship I think its nice they have it.
I would let it continue and let it take its own direction.
My ds is friendly with a ten year old and the only problem I find is that the 10 year old is allowed to do many things that I won,t allow my 7 year old ds to do, it can make things complicated at times but I think its nice for an older boy to be friendly with a younger one.
You never know the older boy having more maturity may be good for your ds's development as long as he isn,t up to anything undesirable that you wouldn,t want your ds doing I would let it be.
