Sometimes it's worse than others. He's 5 months old and currently excusively breastfed.

Anyone got any ideas?

my dds did this - pretty explosive too, accompanied by colic. It all cleared up when I gave up gluten.

Sputnik · 14/11/2008 17:12

No idea why but this happens when they are teething.
Babies under 6 months shouldn't have gluten, but you probably knew that.

DSs does too! I often wondered why... By giving up gluten do you mean bread etc? Not really sure what gluten is in...

That's really interesting, hobnob. I assume you mean that I shouldn't eat gluten rather than my baby (I say this only because he hasn't had anything other than milk yet - I know you're right about gluten, Sputnik!!) so I shall try this for a few days and see if there's any improvement!!

Thanks

BTW, Lady - yes, gluten is in bread- it's the protein found in wheat. There is lots of info about gluten-free diets these days, so have a look on the interweb. I think it might be connected with Coeliac disease, but I'm not 100% about that.

my dd was sensitive to the gluten in my diet when I was bf. gluten-free is a rubbish diet, but worth it if your lo is better for it.

no wheat, barley, rye or oats - pretty much everything I loved to eat! And wheat flour is in everything!

hobnob57 · 14/11/2008 20:10

She's nearly 2 now and showing signs of growing out of it, so not always coeliac

beansprout · 14/11/2008 20:12

Always or just sometimes? Poo can go funny when they are teething.

Sputnik · 14/11/2008 20:40

Sorry honob, I had read that as "gave gluten"
