Is it okay to try and arrange a playdate like this

Since my ds started his new school in septemeber I have not really managed to get to know any of the other parents at all and have no idea who they all are.
My ds's teacher tells me that my ds is a very popular member of the class and has many friends.
I would love to start arranging sosme playdates for him do you think if I passed a note via my ds to whoever he would like itwould be okay I would address the note to their parents with my phone number to invite them to ring me if they are happy for their dc to come to our house on a playdate.
Would this be okay or would I look odd.
Sorry I am useless at this sort of thing.

Why cant you just ask your son who he would like to invite for a playdate and call the parents?

I would find it odd to receive a note.
If somebody wants to arrange a playdate, I would expect this person to pick up the phone and call, and not put that responsibility on me.

If you dont have a class list with name and numbers, maybe you can ask the class rep to arrange for one?

If no class list is available, a note would be fine, I guess.

heatblast, that would be a perfectly normal thing to do. I've had several such notes through ds1s nursery, one such note has led to a great friendship for me and the child is dss bestest friend ever ever Nothing odd about it, totally the norm I would say

It sounds a good idea but I don,t think they would be happy to give out peoples numbers invasion of privacy perhaps.

I think a note is fine too, not at all weird.

I would go for it! Or ask your ds who he'd like to have over to play and try and grab them in the playground at pickup? That's what I ended up doing and it worked out OK - or if not, then perhaps put on the note "excuse the note I've been trying to catch you in the playground but haven't managed it...would your ds like to come and play" or something, then they'll understand why you wrote a note!

Thanks Kitbit thats a good tip you have given me

In my sons school, the school could not give out numbers, but the class reps asked people to volunteer their names and numbers and email addresses for the class list. We got an updated list twice a year. It was very useful to know how to get in touch with everybody, for whatever reason.
