tooth coming through gum - how long?

a tiny bit of the top of my dd's first tooth is coming through today (proud mummy emoticon) - any ideas of how long the tooth will take to come through, or is that like the length of a piece of string?!!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh yes, string. Within a few days you'll probably be able to see it clearly. But then it might be a while before it comes any further- my DSs tend to all move out a bit at a time together; I think they're shy!

But I remember the pride of the first one! It's an emotional moment, so congratulations! She'll be off to Uni before you know it.

thanks for your reply pinkmunkee!
good to know.
yes it is an emotional moment isn't it, and she is my PFB too
can't really believe that in the space of a few days she's started crawling and now getting a tooth - will be married with her own kids in no time
