Has your child ever had a reaction to a fruit shoot drink?

Hi All

My little boy is 14 months old and yesterday we ate out in a cafe. As part of the childrens meal we got a free peice of a fruit and a fruit shoot. My little one has never had a fruit shoot before but has never had a reaction to anything so far so i didnt really think anything of it.

We got him home and all was OK, then in the afternoon he got really unhappy and was in really bad pain. He was bring his knees up to his tummy and screaming and had a bad case of diorhea too.

Eventually, after two hours, he calmed down enough to go to sleep but has been a little bit grizzly all day today too.

The only thing i can think of that he had different to his normal diet is the fruit shoot.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Lu xx

could be the fruit shoot or it he could be coming down with something.

Check ingrediants of fruit shoot - keep a note of any of the additives and try to avoid them in future.

My DS wees constantly after drinking a fruit shoot. On and off the loo all the time if ILs give him one (despite my reminding them that he shouldn't drink them).

nope, neither of mine have ever had a reaction to a fruit shoot. We tend to get the H2O ones as they have less crap in them as they are mostly spring water.

In the past they have made DD quite hyper and giddy. Nothing else had at same time, so had to be them. Not made her ill though. She never has them now.

same as TeeBee - often make normally dry DD wet herself, though I'm not sure if that's something in the drink or down to the fact that DD necks them like a someone who's been in a desert for a week if she gets the chance

same as hula, ds gets quite silly and hyper if he has one. No other reaction though.

how is he now?

It could well be a reaction to aspartame? Do you give sugar free medicines like Calpol - if you do, have you noticed a similar reaction then?

My DS was absolutely climbing the walls after drinking a fruitshoot and he then fell asleep suddenly and woke up really, really grouchy about 2 hours later as if he was ill.

Could have just been a co-incidence but I've not bought them since.

My DD reacted to her first and last fruit shoot by being very hyper (think Tasmanian Devil cartoon), argumentative and tearful. I put it down to the sweetener in it and now avoid anything 'sugar free'.
