DS and his choice of MSN signatures

My mum has just phoned, she noticed on her msn contact list that DS (9) has changed his signature to:

"Don't let the bastards drag you down ... "

It's probably off a song but I'm not sure how much of an issue to make of it. I know he's feeling quite bitter about the fact that he has few friends whilst the bullies have a 'best mate' hanging off each arm.

Oh bless him!
I would just say that you admire the sentiment, but you just cant allow the swearing.
Has he any heroes? sports star or historical figure etc that maybe you could scour the net together and find a more suitable inspirational that conveys the same idea without the language?

MrsSnape · 08/11/2008 13:38

Well his hero is Gerard Way (singer) and I'm guessing he would put it quite the same way lol

I'm going to look through a few of my 'rock' songs later and try and find the same idea but in different words.

He's so much like I was at his age it's uncanny... At least I know what to expect in the teenage years not that that's a good thing!

?Be Who You Are and Say What You Feel Because Those Who Mind Don't Matter and Those Who Matter Don't Mind.?
Dr Seuss.

That's a good one (so is the Bastard one though).

Say it in cod Latin instead!

Could you not just get him to substitute the swearing for another word? It'd let him keep the lyric as his MSN name, and solve the problem of swearing. I suggest the word "idiots".

TeenyTinyTorya · 08/11/2008 20:20

I always thought it was "nolite bastardes carborundum"?
