I know this sounds ridiculous, my DD is almost 4 but doesn't really like anything except for her baby dolls.

We have no idea what to get her for Xmas! Do they like High School Musical, Bratz, Barbie, Sylvanian Families, My Little Ponies ...

Goodness I have no idea. She has asked for a microphone but nothing else really. Hope nobody thinks I'm a bad mother for not knowing.

DD also loves her dolls and always has done. I think they can be into any of the things you have mentioned.

Have you thought about playmobil? DD (4 1/2) has the playmobil house and we are buying her an extra floor for Christmas. She is also into all things crafty. MIL has bought her a bigger size pram, HSM phone and bag plus a ton of other stuff. We have also bought her a leapster (off Ebay) as she has an older brother who has a DS but we felt she was a bit young for one yet.

Mine loves Barbies. And her Dora the Explora Fisher Price House - we've had that 2 years so feel like we've got some value from it. She doesn't play with her dollies anymore. She found an Xmas catalogue and helpfully marked everything she fancied with a cross. Mostly plastic tat / littlest pet shop / hello kitty stuff. She might get a Barbie camper van from Santa.....She also loved her cousins' Playmobil - zoo / fort - though we don't have any yet....

barbeeee, and second playmobil, we have acres of the stuff and i force it on all 3 of them quite happily. dd1 is now 8 and is still asking for more. dd2 is just 5 and wants the same stuff, so everybody happy!

My dd1 was 4 in September, she is into anything pink, and "princessy".

Disney princess, barbie (we have brought her the barbie areoplane and beetle car out of wollies), Big boxes
"Likethis"

Bratz are a little bit older, (but she does like the earing etc that comes with them).

Also likes High School Musical music. Hasn;t really got into the films yet

How about a bigger girl pushchair/ pram.

Or carry on the musical theme- a keyboard & stand from ELc/Argos "Keyboard here"

dd likes her iggle-piggle doll and her baby doll. She likes painting and sticking too. She doesn't watch TV so hasn't been influenced.

poppychick please don't feel bad. I have a ds rather than a dd who is 4. He has never been into toys in a big way at all. His birthday was so exciting right up until he opened his presents which he sort of looked at and then asked to watch tv, nothing from last xmas is even looked at let alone played with. I have gone for practical presents this year
watch
flannel, soap, bubbles, bath crayons in stocking
pj's
books
Felt a bit sad that there was nothing exciting so bought some magnetix on a whim just so there is something to actually play with in there but I just live in hope that as he gets older his interests will become more defined.

dress up outfits.

I get mine from e-bay, you can get a bundle of them and invite DD's friends around to play.

more generally, my 4YO is into princesses. God knows where that came from. She also loves playmobil and duplo but couldn't give a rat's ass about the cutting, sticking etc they are all supposed to love.

Lilyloo · 07/11/2008 20:04

dd likes her dolls so going all out on baby annabell this year with cot/pram etc. She also loves peppa pig and has hadhours of play form her house and camper van so getting her the classroom set too!

Lilyloo · 07/11/2008 20:07

justgotbfp my ds exactly the same and always has been.
He was never into anything but he loves football and plays endlessly with a little soft ball.
After wasting money last year on toys i thought he might like this year it's football kit , shin pads , pump , sweat bands and a couple computer games!
I also think it's sad that he isn't getting any toys per se but i know it will be a waste of money!
