Is this normal for a boy's willy when weeing?

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right place but hope someone can come along and advise....
when ds (who is 3) urinates, his entire willy appears to fill up like a balloon. It's as though his foreskin is too narrow to let all the wee out at once. Dh says it's not usual for this to happen so I tought I'd post on here and see if anyone else has had a similar experience and whether it requires any medical attention (hope not for poor ds's sake).
Thanks.

Bumping for you as i have a vague recollection of previous threads about this, but can't remember what was advised. Sorry

I'm sure someone with some knowledge will be along soon!

The ballooning does mean that the foreskin is tight. Does he get many infections?
If not, it might be best to wait and see.

My son also had this but with frequent infections and ended up being circumcised. HTH

BUTTERCUPBABE,
My friends little lad had this happen a few years ago and it does need to be checked out with GP. Her sons foreskin was too tight and he had to have a circumcision [sp] so worth checking out now.
good luck1

DS1 had this as well, we did get him checked and the advice was while he wasn't getting any infections (touch wood he's never had one) then just to leave it. TBH he is nearly 7yo now and I have no idea if it still balloons up or not, but if it does, it doesn't bother him at all.

My ds's did this when he was little.

He grew out of it (or grew into it).

has been potty trained since 30 months and im quite sure it has never happened

didnt happen to my old little boy charge either

You can get some cream from the GP to help with this or they can refer him to the hospital. It must be really uncomfortable for him.

this is normal.

it is within the normal limits of development of the foreskin. when boys are born the foreskin is stuck to the underlying glans and this ballooning can help to 'unstick' them.

traditionally and historically, many boys were circumcised for things such as this, but it is usually unnecessary and will resolve with time as he grows up. there is good research evidence for this.

can you retract his foreskin? even if you can't, 3 is quite young these days to circumcise, it should improve over the next few years.
