How would your kids have behaved if you'd become First Lady/President and had to appear in front of quarter of a million screaming people?

DS1 would have done a wee.

DS2 would have cried and buried his head in my chest.

nickytwotimes · 06/11/2008 12:12

Lol!
Ds would have run away and hid behind my legs.

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 06/11/2008 12:13

They were so good, Obama's girls, weren't they. Not sure mine would have been so well-behaved.

Fennel · 06/11/2008 12:13

I'd have hidden mine, I don't think they'd have been an asset to my electoral campaign. I might have offered a static photo of them freshly groomed and scrubbed, but not the reality.

DD1 would probably have rooted up her nose and announced proudly to the cheering multitude "I've got bogies!"
DD2 would have howled hysterically.

nannyogg · 06/11/2008 12:15

Good question!

DD would either have refused point blank to walk out in front of everyone, or she'd have been tugging on my sleeve saying Muuuuuum, Muuuuuum, I'm bored, can I have a flag, I need a weeeeee, etc etc.

wilbur · 06/11/2008 12:20

Ds1 (7) would have been cool and well-behaved, although he'd have wanted to have his turn with the mic to tell everyone his latest joke, and then explain to them why it was funny. Dd (5) would have been terrified by the noise and flashing lights (we'd have had to put ear plugs in for her). Ds2 (3) would have seen it as an opportunity to perform his Panda Pants routine (an expression through the medium of dance on the pleasure his Kung-Fu Panda underwear brings him). "Come on America, Panda Paaaaants, Panda Paaaants!".

bella29 · 06/11/2008 14:47

DS (6) would have done his best impersonation of a tortoise putting his head back in the shell.

DD (4) would have barged in front of Obama and done a dance routine followed by a very theatrical curtsey

ledodgy · 06/11/2008 14:51

Dd would smile sweetly and wave on a good day or put her head down all shy on a bad day, ds1 would shout 'POO' at the top of his voice and ds2 would probably cry, laugh or try and crawl off the stage to grab someone's hair.

RubySlippers · 06/11/2008 14:52

DS - probably would have announced loudly he needed a "wee wee on toilet" (he is 2.5)

OR he would have done his cute, shy thing and hidden behind my legs

Dd would have tried to crowd surf.

Cicatrice · 06/11/2008 15:04

Afraid DS would have tried to make eye contact with every blonde he could see to try and make her smile at him. He does this in restaurants, and shamelessly tried to attract attention to himself.

He likes blonde ladies best but any lady will do......

He's 14months.

freakypenguin · 06/11/2008 15:11

cicatrice!

is he a cutie pie himself?

Kathyis6incheshigh · 06/11/2008 15:17

DD would have pulled her trousers down and said proudly to the crowd, 'I've got Dora pants and I haven't had an accident!'

DS would have spotted an emergency vehicle somewhere and pointed it out to the assembled throng - 'look! Nee nar!'

susie100 · 06/11/2008 15:28

How do you train kids to behave like that?
Do you think it is because they have always been in the public eye? Is it inherited? I am fascinated by their composure and poise. My dd is still tiny, she would have farted loudly and snored.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 06/11/2008 15:33

It is because Obama said 'Listen, kids, and listen good' (That;s how Americans talk you know) 'No poise and composure, no puppy. You put one foot out of line and the puppy's toast.'

DaisyMooSteiner · 06/11/2008 15:34

Mine would have to be sedated - I can see the headlines now 'First Children drugged with Phenergan'

jujumaman · 06/11/2008 15:35

Dd1 (3.8) would have either hidden her face in my crotch or pulled down her trousers and mooned shouting "bummy, bummy" as she did to a delighted crowd in the check in at Lanzarote airport last year.

DD2 (17 mos) would have stuck her hand down my beautiful first-lady blouse/dress and started twiddling my nipples.

LOL Kathy!!!!

susie100 · 06/11/2008 15:50

Hilarious Kathy!! So bribery is the only way!

mosschops30 · 06/11/2008 15:54

I thought Obamas girls looked absolutely stunning the election night, such professionals already smiling and waving, they look like such normal children who were happy and smiling but could tear each others hair out at the drop of a hat

dd would be sulking saying 'this is boring'
ds would have shouted 'i need to do a poo'

mabanana · 06/11/2008 15:54

You know, this was all I thought about everytime I saw those girls on platforms and podiums. I even said to dh, 'blimey, we'd have to use sedatives!'
Oldest dd, fine, poise, composure, smiling. Perfect. Ds flapping, shouting, talking over my speech, putting his hands over ears, running off, possibly fidding with willy, little dd doing freeform ballet recital, running about, possibly shouting 'willy bum bum'

AmIWhatAndWhy · 06/11/2008 15:54

DS - Would have refused to walk onto the stage and demaded a buggy
DD - would have hidden behind my legs and yelled 'dinner'

As for Obamas kids they are used to it, he wasn't elected oou of the blue, they've been with him for loads of rallies and press appearances.

Funny thread though.
