I have been problems reinstalling net nanny on my computer after it crashed. And I went through dd's history to check on what she'd been looking at...normally club penguin and Littlest pet shop clips on you tube. One of them was obviously at a stud farm and very graphic. Do you think this could damage her at all? She's very naive, but not stupid. Ugh! Needless to say, we are overly monitoring now until bloody net nanny works properly again, but what are your thoughts on this. Should I say anything to her?

I think it's a good way to explain the birds and bees.

My mother made me stand by a fiels while a bull jumped on a cow, but I was a teenager then, and really didn't need to see it.

I wouldn't worry about her seeing it, but I would find an excuse for a chat, probably without mentioning it specifically. She probably won't have spontaneously happened upon the link; one of her friends will have told her about it or told her what to search for. So I'd want to get an idea of what kinds of conversations she and her friends were having.

I found David Attenborough a great help in my dc's sex education (though I have explained that human beings do or should tend to be a little gentler and more cuddly than say bisons or lions). And those randy catfish in my tanks are at it all the time. Why would it damage someone?

She'll be fine. You might want to have a talk with her though.

filz · 04/11/2008 10:29

I am sure she will be fine. Ds1 (7) watches autumn watch and has never made any comment about alol the animal sex on it

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 04/11/2008 10:30

Surely watching animals mating is how children have traditionally learned about sex? She'll be fine. Although it might prove a good starting point for a discussion about the difference between human and equine anatomy...

huh? how could watching horses mating damage her??

fortyplus · 04/11/2008 10:37

She'll just be wondering why that horse had 5 legs and was kicking the other one! Honestly - it won't damage her. Mine saw a clip of a woman performing oral sex at a friend's house when they were about 7 & 8. Ds1 told me about it later - he said 'Honestly mummy - she had her mouth wide open like this... ... I'd never let anyone do that - I mean... she could've bitten his willy right off, couldn't she?!'

They're 13 & 14 now and totally undamaged by what they saw - honest!
