Poll: Which descibes your style of parenting best

a) My parenting is strict dicatorship, my children must obey without question. Their opinons are completely irrelevent.

b) I am in charge, my children do as they are told. However I am prepared to listen to my children's opinons if they are sensible.

c) I see my family as a cooperative group, we try to balance everyone's desires. Ie. sometimes the children get their way. However the adults have as much rights as the kids to be happy.

d) Why do top scientists not acknowledge that my kids are the centre of the universe? My kids run the house and adults are there to serve their kids. My kids will learn from their mistakes even if I see that a decision is unwise.

Ideally I would hope my parenting style is like c) but suspect I am closer to b) and maybe a) if its a really bad day.

c

Dragonbutter · 02/11/2008 13:45

e) i'm just trying to survive each day

Reallytired · 02/11/2008 13:53

My patience drops as the weather gets worst and the more days my son has been on half term holiday. I start off as c) and get more and more unreasonable a time goes on.

melpomene · 02/11/2008 15:04

C (mostly)

muggglewump · 02/11/2008 15:04

Somewhere between B and C.
We are a team, we both deserve to be happy in our home, I will let DD have a say often but I have the final say and if I say somnething I mean it and expect to be obeyed.

luminarphrases · 02/11/2008 15:18

b mostly a when options have been exhausted and we need to be at nursery in half an hour!

i always try and give dd a choice when possible espcially when it is my days at home, regarding what she wants to do in the day, fr instance if she wants to stay in, go the duck pond, go see the dinosaur, mainly because i don't see the point in getting agitated.

Starbear · 02/11/2008 15:28

A, in the morning after my cup of tea cuddle. Then I must get to work, Ds to nursery and grumpy DH needs slience if we are going to stay married. A, at bedtime as well.
B, when DH and other family around
C, most of the time even with DH around
E, like now man, in hippy chick mood and he can watch telly, have crumpets and spoil his dinner with sweets. It's Sunday after all

TinkerBellesMum · 02/11/2008 15:35

C with a little bit of B when needed.

SmugColditz · 02/11/2008 15:41

Wow, I'm clearly a lot stricter than I thought I was.
