How many letters could your DC identify at 3 years?

just curious...

so if you put the letters of the alphabet in front of them and said, where's letter so-and-so... how many would they get right roughly?

DS is 2.7 and can recognise the letter H. It's his favourite So, that makes 1.

dd1 is 2.10yrs and can recognise about 8 letters but more because of phonetic sound. ds at 3 knew them all

my dd has just turned 3 and can recognise 7

thats really interesting ome... did you do anything different between either of them or was DS just more interested?

DS is 3.4, can recognise A (his fave), S for sausage and M for mummy. He's really not very interested though.

All if them, but only because he has a jigsaw of the alphabet and loves it, we do D for Daddy etc, but that said he can't draw a single thing, just has no interest. Suppose they all learn different things at different speeds

At 2.7 DS gets
S - his initial
M - for mummy
H - a big 'Honda', mummy!

ds is 3 in dec.hed recognise absolutly none.

but hes happy

ds1 - most of them except for b and d and p and q and l and I and V and W - he is very dyslexic.
ds2 - all of them.

manky ds is just a lot more interested in academic stuff like dd2 who is 21mths but can also prob recognise 7/8 letters.He was 5 a couple of weeks ago and is quite good at reading, maths,science and his knowledge of things shocks me and have also recieved comments from teachers and other parents about how 'bright' he seems. however he is socially immature..lol
dd1 is in a fantasy world and very creative with colouring and role play and also a lot more sociable

I am amazed at the differences at the same age. def. agree with malteaser.

my ds knew all letters and numbers and shapes at 2 could point them out when asked etc but was dx with HFA at 3

DS knows all his numbers (can for example point to a three digit number you ask him to - sticker books to thank for that)
He knows quite a few letters on sight - all the vowels, T S H F B etc. He's 3 next week

none really possibly the first letter of his name.

DS is a Starfall addict and so knows all of them (he was 3 yesterday). He had a mad keen letter phase very early can't remember exactly but well before age 2. He learnt them all then too but then lost interest and forgot quite a few. He also loves his letter shaped playdough cutters, which is how he learnt letters the first time round.

DS1 was 3 last month. He knows no letters

We had an alphabet game which dd loved playing so she could pick out all the letters before she started nursery. Hadn't a clue what they were for though. When she started nursery, they told me I'd done the wrong thing. But she really did enjoy this game, honest - I wasn't hothousing her.

my dd could identify half of the alphabet at 18 months. Uppercase only though. No idea by the time she was three... somewhere between half and all

ds1 - can't remember, probably the initial letters of family names (but he was a whizz with numbers!)

ds2 - um, he isn't three yet, but don't think he can recognise any. But he might be able to recognise his initial letter if asked. I'd have to try!

dd1 knew all letters by 2 (her choice) and
1-10 by 21 months. she still very bright now. nearly 7

ds1 is 3 today knows most of alphabet and numbers.
