5 week old's sleeping routine

hello, i have a 5 week old baby who is pretty good in every way except for part of the night.
he goes to bed at 9 pm with the monitor on, we then go at 10 pm he is always fast asleep when we go and wont wake til either 2am or 3 am.he will then have his milk and go straight back to sleep but only for a hour.he is then wide awake from 4am.
he has an amby nest which he loves, however from 4am he will cry unless constantly rocked in it!
would love to know if anyone has any tips/ideas.tia.

Sounds quite normal I'm afraid. He's still so tiny. I would try introducing a dream feed when you fo to bed then feed twice in the night when he wakes up. DS1 fed at 2 and 4am until he was about 4 months after a dreamfeed at 11ish.

Yep, sounds about right. My son is 5 weeks old and sounds pretty similar. I've given up trying to understand what he's doing and just go with it. Just try to catch up on your sleep when he does!

ah ok so it seems normal.i suppose im trying to understand what is wrong and why he feels unable to sleep when maybe its just how they are at this age. do you all have the babies sleeping in your room?from my limited knowledge, this should be done until 6 months, is that correct?.

My DS was like this - would be awake and needing attention from 4 ish. He grew out of it eventually - wasnt much I could do in the early days though. I would try and look at it positively that at that age he is having a 5 or 6 hour stretch of sleep!

Yes, the advice is to keep them in with you til 6 months. In reality ds1 moved into his own room (over the corridor and with both doors open) at 10 weeks as we were disturbing him. DS2 held out a bit longer, he lasted til 4 months.
