was I wrong to let ds (7) go to a shop on his own?

I work above the shop and ds has been coming to work with me
I thought I would trust him to go on his own to get a drink which he did well apart from not waiting for the change!
He told dh when we got home and dh was not happy.
If 7 is to young what age is old enough? dh doesn't think he should be going on his own until at least 13

I think that is fine.

7 is fine. What is your DH going to do when he is 11/12 and going to High school, wil he not be allowed to go there on his own?

13 .... ridiculous.

7 is fine, given where you were!

RhinestoneCowghoul · 29/10/2008 20:18

So no roads crossed, in fact not even leaving the building?? Think your DH is over-reacting a bit, 7 sounds fine.

I was in my office. All he had to do was go downstairs out of the door to the next shop door all of about 2 meters from where I work wait in a queue then come back upstairs.
Good point about high school!

No problem.

My mum lives in a small friendly village and has a little corner shop at the end of her street. My boys started going to the shop for a newspaper or a pint of milk when they were 5.
