DS is ill. He is also 2.5. This is a lethal combination. I need to have a rant.

Today's gems have been

DS: Mummy, I got a poo. I want the potty!

DS: Not that potty, the one with the lion on it!
Me (18 wks pg and haven't had a good night's sleep in over a week): OK, I'll go and get you the one with the lion on it.

DS: I don't want to sit on the potty.

also:

DS: I don't want the green cup, I want the red cup
Me: The red cup is in the dishwasher, it's dirty sweetie
DS: I want the red cup
Me: the green cup is here, look, it's got lovely juice in it
DS: (goes to get red cup out of the dishwasher) I want the red cup
Me: But it's dirty
DS: I want water in the red cup
Me: oh ok I'll wash it

DS: it's all wet!
Me: ok, I'll dry it. Here you go.
DS: Noooooooooooooo I want the green cup

Someone talk me down from the ledge.

This was my day...well weeks now, they take your brain and play with it don't they.

BIG HUG feel better.

I do sometimes wonder whether they're trained by military intelligence - surely noone can push our buttons so effectively without training?

I am meanie and say red cup or nothing...very calmly

I use or nothing for everything, since DS1 was about 2.2 and it works for us!

remember the more annoyed you are the better their 'plan' has worked

Preganacy and toddlers are such a rubbish mix arent they.

Normally the calm refusal works....but he's ill which means EVERYTHING is worth wailing about at the moment.

He has been wailing since 6am on and off about one thing or another. And I love him dearly and I know he's feeling ill but sometimes.......AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Dd is 2.5 and has been ill, she is better now and full of beans while i am still recovering from the hell she put me through the past few days combined with baby ds waking and screaming all night as he got the bug from her.

You have my sympathy

poor you littleducks! it does seem to get each member of the family in turn, doesn't it? DP has been having it, which has made him nigh on useless, now DS. I'll probably get it next week on the day I start my new job.
