I have just made a felt bag with a handle for my DD who will be 2 at Christmas. It is about the size of my nad. What would you put in it for her to 'find'?

Could you make it into a little handbag - so put in a small purse with fake money, a little pad and crayons, a little comb/brush. a compact mirror etc so she can be like mummy??

harpomarx · 21/10/2008 20:36

if it was my dd i would put a matchbox car in there - amongst other things. She is obsessed and they are a great toy to get into: cheap, portable, good for imaginative play. 2 is a good age to start the indoctrination.

Fabulous ideas - I do like the matchbox car, lip balm, mirror and white choc coins very much!

It isn't very big though, so I will have to choose one of the above!

Oh no, what if she hates it

have yet to meet a child who hates matchbox cars

ditto chocolate coins.

Chaotica · 21/10/2008 23:28

I'd go for the car too -- dd loves them.

kingfix · 21/10/2008 23:39

My 2 yr old DD loves her toy mouse, which has trousers you can take off. You sound like you are pretty nifty with the needle and thread so could you make one to live in her handbag?

stealthsquiggle · 21/10/2008 23:46

Playmobil person?
Tiny bear?

DD is obsessed with bags and fills them with anything which comes to hand (and then hangs them on the back of her doll's pushchair )

It has made me very disciplined about where I put my keys

my dd would love anything you can draw on and with (small crayons and little pad, esp the tiny post-it's...hours of fun) agree little car and also something small and woolly or furry, my dd has a tiny knitted pink mouse which fits in her pocket and she adores it how about attaching a little bell or something rattly to the bag? sewn in i mean.

ightytiddlietighty · 22/10/2008 00:31

schleich animals are good to fit in little bags.

MollyCherry · 27/10/2008 00:36

You can get some really great tiny things from Hawkins Bazaar - www.hawkin.com - if you've not got one near you.

A little tree decoration?

I love the tradition of giving a tree decoration every year, which the child keeps in a separate box and puts on the tree themselves. For DD's first christmas I painted a wooden heart and drilled a hole for string - last year I bought one.

Small stuffed toy would be lovely.
Or a plastic figure - DD loves putting her In The Night Garden figures in various hiding places. I once found Makka Pakka in my dressing gown pocket

nct73 · 28/10/2008 21:13

DD 20 mo loves getting her bag ready, giving me a kiss & going to work so agree with the things mum & dad have in their bags - pad, mini colouring pencils, fake watch (DD loves little wooden bead one she has), maybe a phone, brush, mirror etc

Thankyouandgoodnight · 29/10/2008 22:16

These are great and also good ideas for stockings and party bag ideas!
