When did you/ DP get them? We are a long line of 10month teethers here

needmorecoffee · 19/10/2008 18:30

dd had no teeth till 15 months which was weird as my other 3 had a tooth by 6 months.
Thought she was going to be gummy forever!

LuckySalem · 19/10/2008 18:32

I have no idea. I'm sure it was earlier than this though as mum is always asking if she has teeth yet and seems VERY surprised she hasn't. lol

I don't mind that she has no teeth she still gets into everything just wondering really whether it could be a problem really.

I don't think the dts had any until they were 12m. DD1 got two at 6m, two at 8m, two at 10m etc.

chunkychips · 19/10/2008 18:36

neither of mine had any teeth until well after first birthday. IN fact dd has only seven still and she's 21 months.

DeJaVous · 19/10/2008 18:36

DD got two in a couple of days at 8 months. She's 11 months now and there's no sign of another...

They are bound to turn up one day

LuckySalem · 19/10/2008 18:38

So just let them happen then? I shouldn't worry?

TBH I don't think there's a lot you can do really, I've tried tempting DDs down with steak but it didn't work

But, seriously, if it's something your worrying about it would be good to speak to your HV / GP. I'm sure they'll be able to give you more info about what the normal parameters are. At they very least it should put your mind at rest.

DS's didn't appear until 10 or 11 months...I think it's sweet- they keep their baby looks longer!

He's now 7.3 and has only just got his first wobbler, while everyone else was gappy two years ago.

Twink · 19/10/2008 19:13

I panicked about dd as she had no teeth until she was 12 months but the dentist was really positive and said she'd be more likely to lose them late so would be old enough to look after her second teeth better.

That's exactly what's happening, she's 9 and has only lost 6.

mumof2andabit · 19/10/2008 19:22

Ds first tooth came right before his 1st birthday! dd at 6mo had 1 poking up now. I prefer the later ones a lot less sleepless nights!

colander · 19/10/2008 19:31

I wouldn't worry - I'm sure they are there! Enjoy the time without nibbled nipples

SparklyGothKat · 19/10/2008 19:32

noticed last night that Callum finally has 2 top side teeth coming through (not front bottom ones, oh no, 2 side ones) and he is 13 months old

Friendlypizzaeater · 19/10/2008 19:42

My LO didn't get any till 13 months and then cut three in one day (2 molars and one eye tooth) his front teeth followed about a month later ! I was told the later they come the better it is too, hes 6 and not lost any yet or got any wobbly ones.

loler · 19/10/2008 20:41

My dentist said that the later they come the later they will lose their milk teeth so the better for the adult teeth - gives you longer to to get dc to brush their own!

Also saves you the hassle of having to brush!

LuckySalem · 19/10/2008 20:42

Ok so not worried.

Is there any point at which I should be asking?

Friendlypizzaeater · 19/10/2008 20:43

My HV told me to ask if he was 18 mths without any teeth

ShowOfHands · 19/10/2008 20:43

Don't worry. Nobody in our family cuts teeth before 12 months. It's a good thing as detailed already.

MOrticiaAdams · 19/10/2008 20:49

Of course, the other bonus is, your lo will be more able to point or say he's got tooth ache, rather than just scream like a baby would. That way, you'll save all the 'what's the matter with him' bit and go straight for the Calpol/teething gel etc.

Bonnycat · 19/10/2008 21:55

DD was over 12mths and DS was 10 mths and got 3 in two days

LuckySalem · 19/10/2008 22:02

Ok so if nothing by 18 months i'll start thinking about worrying but until then I'll just enjoy the peace!!

My dd1 didn't have any teeth until she was 13 months then got 4 in one go. Dd2 got her first when she 7 months so can really vary.
