Anyone else starting potty training? Moral support needed!

Started potty training with serious intent today with DS who's 3 at end of month. I've been using potty with him for a while and find that he uses it fine if leave him naked but feels no need to bother otherwise. Have decided the only option is to go straight to pants and have started today. I sense a long road ahead and just wondered if anyone else out there who fancies sharing there experiences with me.

Feels like we've had a breakthrough day as ds has been asking to use potty all day long (and I've stuck it out fully clothed!) Really pleased with him though will probably be back to 3 pairs of trousers tommorrow .

That's great Feedthegoat-fingers crossed eh?.
We're still having a problem with poo's.Ds has now been dry for about 4 days but when he needs a poo,he'll do it in his pants which is awful.
We went to a soft play centre today and I stuck him in a pull up(as he hadn't done his daily poo) and after about an hour of being there,he came over to me crying that he'd done a poo.I suppose the good thing is he told me straight away, whereas before when he was in nappies,he'd happily carry on in a dirty nappy.
Any ideas would be most welcome please.

Can't really help you there bubbaloo as my ds had a poo accident today too for first time in a while - think he had his white pants radar on . He has done most of poos on toilet so not sure if he just got caught out as he had wandered off up stairs to get something and he still won't get on potty by himself. I'm just grinning and bearing it at moment and hoping it comes with time. He does tell me when he needs a wee now though (most of the time) which i'm really pleased about.

That's really good that he tells you now.
Ds has only told me a couple of times so I'm still taking him every hour or so which is rather frustrating. He done another poo in his pants today and as we were going to friends I decided to put him in a pull up just incase.Once he had the security of a pull up I thought I'd wait for him to tell me that he needed the toilet but he didn't and did 2 wee's in his pull ups.
I'm also very tempted to leave his bottom totally bare in the morning to see if it will click and he'll tell me when he needs the toilet, but we have new carpets(cream coloured),so I'm not sure I'm brave enough just yet.

thanks so much for this thread. i read it 2 days ago after 2 days of unsuccessful potty training and i was despairing. i stuck it out thanks to your stories and major breakthrough on the 3rd day when he asked for the potty and we are now nappy free in the day. have braved going outside and we have had at least 1 accident a day but he is dong very well.

same problem with poos though. he goes into a corner and poos into his pants and screams when i try to pick him up to put on loo or potty. rather unpleasantly done today in a cafe in the market!

but i can't expect everything at once i suppose...
