I'm not much good at this sort of thing....or rather, I'm still learning . None of my friends have kids, plus I work full time, so am somewhat 'out of the loop', ifykwim with regards to time, and knowing the best toys around- you guys are my best hope. My little DD will be 18months at crimbo- so what do they like at this age?

Whats cool at the moment?

I think I am going to get my DS a trike.

I've got 2 older kids and to be honest it is a difficult age to buy for.

Otherwise, bits and bobs puzzles/books/chalk/magnet letters or something like a train set/dolls house that you can add to.

Second Cheeky's idea about pull along toys - my DD (nearly 2) has several of these, and loves them all.

Or a pop up tent and tunnel arrangement - most kids love these, will spend ages going through the tunnel and then use the tent bits later for dens and hiding things in. For example, DD today hid in her tent my handbag, two pull along toys, her comfort blankets, a brick truck, a plastic stool and all of her In the Night Garden stuff. All good fun until I needed my purse....

We've got our DD (19 mo ATM) this

this

and a wooden trike.

Our DD is also really into dolls and pushchairs ATM too, but this does tend to be a personal thing- DD1 hated dolls.

little house for the garden?
swing for outside?
little kitchen with pots and pans?
pretend hoover?
garage set?
trike/tractor with trailer?

can you tell my dd will be almost 18 months this christmas these are my thoughts...

ds is getting an easel with chalkboard on the back - may be a bit young for it yet but he usually gets something for xmas that's to grow into. if your dd hasnt got a trike he loves his; at playgroup all the girls this age seem to be into the mini-pushchairs
