Should I worry? DS 3yrs in December and no interest in potty or toilet....

I've tried everything, different potties, special sit on toilet itself, cold turkey (no nappies at all...after 3 sets of dry clothes in an hour gave up) now should i worry or is this normal? i have ds1 who is now 9yrs and potty trained fine around 2ish yrs, and ds3 is now 15m, feel maybe he will be potty trained first at this rate!!

Any advice or should i just wait until the stubborn little man decides he wants to? i am just concious and feeling under pressure purely because of his age that he should be making a start?

Thanks for reading!! X

No, don't feel under any pressure. I really don't think there is any point in forcing the issue.

My DD1 was like this then one day decided it was time to move to proper pants. Potty training consisted of a trip to tescos to buy pink pants and that was it. She never had an accident!

Chances are you'll be in for a similar easy ride when the time comes (and all your parenting friends will be jealous)

She was 3.1 btw...

Thank you, my mother keeps asking why is he still in nappies as we (my brother and i) were both dry at 18m blah, blah, blah! He is very bright but just no interest in this. he was late sitting up and walking 16m so maybe just a lazy boy!! X

My DD1 didn't walk until she was 18m.

I'm sure he is just like my DD1 and has far more interesting things to concentrate on at that age.

Hope you have some success in ignoring the blah blah blah (not easy I know)

My ds was finally potty trained, at 3 yrs 1 month, after a number of failed attempts earlier on, when he refused to sit on the potty and would get hugely stressed about it all. I was putting myself under pressure to get it done, but as it is he just got it pretty much from the word go this time, we've had very few accidents and friends of mine who started there dcs in the spring are still having accidents whereas my ds (hopign I'm not jinxing myself here!) doesn;t.
Have just seen this is your 2nd ds, sorry if you thought I was being patronising. I'd say wait until he wants to - maybe with a few days of letting him know that he should give the potty a go beforehand. We had a few half naked days at home to get us going, too, then pants, then joggers and pants (easy for him to deal with himself) and now we're back in normal clothes after 5 weeks of fashion crime!

Thanks for your advice, I need to just let it happen then when he's ready i guess and just not worry about it. he has such good vocabularly and i've asked him if he wants to be a big boy and wear big boy pants, he just says no!

Mrs M. don't think you are patronising at all, they are all so different which is why we need the advice! XX
