Sling recommendations for petite mum please..

Hi, I would like to buy a sling for my SIL who has a 3 week old DS. They live on the third floor and she is having problems lugging the pushchair up and down the stairs.
She is ablolutely TINY. Dress size 6-8 and around 5'3" so I would be grateful for any recommendations from you petite ladies out there. I would lend her my Karime but im a size 18 and she would drown in the fabric!

Erm, I'm not "tiny" but I am short and found I was drowning in my wrap sling. I'm liking my Ergo as it's streamlined, fully adjustable while you're wearing it and DH can use it too, even though he's 6'2". It's very supportive for your back and shoulders so comfortable for longer wear.

I have an ergo and am a size 10 and 5 foot one but I find it quite big on the shoulders so might not be the best option for someone petite. It's also not great for newborns unless you have the insert.

I also have a wrap and agree it's massive but you do get used to it. Wraps are a very personal choice though. Not everyone is going to get on with them.

Have you asked her what she'd be comfortable with? She might prefer something with a bit of structure like a wilky especially if she's new to slings or maybe completely the opposite like a ring sling.

I've bought a Coorie sling, they come in all different sizes, measuring instructions are on the website, I think I measured from top of left shoulder to top of right hip. The one I've bought is a a lovely, cosy fleece and I've been told, perfect for a newborn baby. HTH.

Has she tried out the Kari-me? I'd get her to give it a go tbh as I am quite petite and its the only thing that goes down small enough for narrow shoulders etc. She could always cut some excess fabric off if too massive or try a shorter wrap.

I am quite small (5ft4, size 10-12) and had no problems with a Moby Wrap, which is quite similar to the Kari-Me.
Woven wraps come in different lengths -maybe one of those would be better if she likes the idea of a wrap?

i think a wrap is still the best bet as it is fully adjustable. if she finds that she has loads of extra fabric after tying it correctly she can chop some off i suppose?

i have a moby and love it. i am 5ft3 but a size 12, so i wouldn't define myself as petite- just short !

I am small and I found the ergo used to slip off my shoulders- it was quite annoying.

I am also size 6/8 and 5'2 and I found wraps best. I have a calin bleu and a moby and the calin bleu is much narrower. Now ds is older I like my babyhawk for on my back but until he was quite old it did tend to slip off my shoulders. I think if you order direct from them they will make it smaller for you.

Definitely not an Ergo...I would look at the Connecta Baby Carrier website. They are custom made, so can be made with the padding stopping sooner on the straps. Would recommend an Ellaroo wrap (more supportive than a stretchy but not £££ or super thick fabric) in a 4.2m length though if she is open to wrapping.

I have a didymos, it's lovely. Have trailing bits with some ties but usually okay. 5'2" and size 8.
