I get irrationally down from time to time because my dc's look like my in laws

Ds1(3) is the spitting image of mil and ds2 (1) is the spitting image of fil. They don't even look like dh. People kept saying that ds2 may change as they usually do but I don't think he will now.

It really gets me down. I love them dearly but I wish they had something of me or my side of the family in them. I'm mad aren't I? They are lovely, healthy children and I'm grateful to have them before anyone starts slating me. I just can't help the way I feel.

I know exactly how you feel. DD (9 mo) was the spit of me when she was born but now there isn't a single bugger in the world that doesn't exclaim, 'ooh, doesn't she look like DH/DH's mum/DH's auntie Nora/DH's great great grandfather'

It's getting on my wick especially as she started out so well. I know it's silly but even 'my' eyes are changing colour now. That was all I had.

I wouldn't mind if they looked like dh but the don't.

I'm sure I'll get over it as I have with ds1 but think I'm just having to get used to it with ds2.
