fuzzi bunz or another pocket nappy - what's the alternative?

hello,
i'm about to order some new (2008 design) fuzzi bunz in the hope that the legs are a bit neater than their earlier design. has anyone used the new ones and found them to be much improved, or are they still a bit unreliable for leakage?
i can't find a popular alternative pocket nappy online but would be really grateful for any suggestions.
thank you!
a x

What shape is your DC?

em... quite tall / broad with chubby legs - is 17mo, i guess around 26-ish pounds (haven't been to the weigh-in for ages), the large size (older design) fuzzis work if i use two or, better, three mf boosters, but the legs just don't ever feel snug enough. i just wanted to check people's opinions on the 2008 design - or any other pocket nappies, before i fork out for more.
thank you! x

Ideally you want to chat to Nappyzone

I use the old style FB on DS but not tried the new ones yet so can't help you there but....

Pocket Bots would be well worth a try IMO. The Medium long is great for taller babies and the general fit seems to suit chubby legs and thinner legs well. There is a very helpful size chart on the site and the lady who makes them is very helpul if you are confused by all the options. The insert gripper works really well. For us they give a neater fit around the legs and waist than FB (DS is chubby legged and thin waisted) and Pocket Bots are more reliable if left on for longer than usual.

Pocket Bots don't come with an insert but I thoroughly recommend GAD hemp or MF inserts - they are excellent and the design means you can have some extra bulk where you need it if you want.

Bumgenius, bumgenius, they really are. I bought mine from nappyzone, she is the pocket guru.

I am seriously considering selling my size one tots that my son is wearing for more bumgenius. They are fab. And dry overnight.

Not sure about BG on a tall baby though - don't think they would last up to potty training time.

Wonderoos are quite good - forgot to mention them. Although a btp I think they are best kept for older babies. They aren't that much different to fuzzis really but they seem to be generally more reliable - they have a huge pocket so can take a lot of stuffing. I can still easily fit them onto DD1 who is 4.5 (she doesn't need them of course ).

Nappyzoneneedssleep · 03/10/2008 12:56

My friend tried her bg on her 5 yr old to try for size and they fit - she is a small five year old that given but whether any btp lasts is really dependant on when they potty train and yes obv size comes into it... I agree wonderoos better on an older baby well thats how they were for me but then plenty do buy them and go btp with them. Greenkids are very generous for chubsters and perform well wit hthe bamboo insert. The new fuzzi bunz are more generous in size not sure about reliability comparisons as i am lucky that my ds is blessed with a perfect pocket bum

at perfect pocket bum

DS is going even thinner at the waist and even chubbier at the thighs - his Fuzzis are in 'interesting' fit atm but still work.

I stand corrected on the BG

thanks so much for all your advice! sounds like i should order / try out a bumgenius or two maybe (from nappyzone of course )

Oh i would defo give one a go to see . Mousey no need lol like i say my ds has the perfect pocket bum - it will be interesting when ds gets a big boy and is in nappies at 4 (i am never potty training my last baby) how they fit - i sympathise with wonky fuzzi settings though - i cant cope with wonkyness on fastenings! BBM r they new style fuzzis andif so whatdya think?

For long skinys or chubbys the longest rise onesizes i have are the HH onesize - they have folded out fleece leg casings for super comfort but dont suit all (except mini zone of course .

BigBadMousey · 03/10/2008 20:27

Nappyzone - nope they are old style (was about to type 'old school' ).

I'm completely with you on the uneven fastening thing though. I currently have one popper left at the waist setting and he is on the 3rd popper from the middle on his legs - I can just about cope with that as it sort of looks symmetrical. I also have a big issue with the pegs I hang my laundry out with - if I need to use two pegs on one garment they have to be the same colour - I think I need professional help

Nappyzoneneedssleep · 03/10/2008 20:31

I can confirm that quite possibly you do but then so do i
