Rusmum - what don;t you like about the original totsbots?

Fluffles are bulky but very soft
Bamboozles give a trim/ close fit but are a similar cut to the tots originals.

The Easy Peasy Bambeasy is worth a look.

tbh Sandy's are a bit in a league of their own and there isn;t much similar. There is a European version of Motherease called Popolini - they have the eqivalent nappies to motherease but are cheaper. here is a Popolini two size (i.e. a Sandy's made by Popolini). Incidently the organic cotton versions are lovely - well worth trying.

You could also try the Motherease One Size(MEOS) they are cheap second hand and give a close / trim fit. The fit really doesn't suit any of my DCs and I don't find them absorbant enough for them - the Sandy's is far more absorbant - but they are well worth a look if you find one cheap, if they work for you you might well love em.

Then you're into the realm of pocket nappies . It's a dangerous place to be but they are lovely if you can afford them and find one that suits your DCs shape. They will all give a close fit, be quick to dry and look super-cute but they can cost a fair bit. Fuzzi Bunz and Bumgenius are good ones to try. Mommy's touch tend to leak lots and you've probably had enough of that already

rusmum · 16/10/2008 11:33

TOTS BOTS seem quite low on waist.. using size 1. and go quite hard.

Thanks i wil keep a look out for cheap (ish) versions of what you advised to try.

2nd hand sandys hard to come by??????

rusmum: is your little one a boy or girl, and do they sleep on their tummy/side at all? For my daughter, I found prefolds & Proraps excellent for the first 16 months of her life. However, when she finally started walking (around 16m), she was too big for medium Proraps, but too small for large, and with all her new moving about the prefold kept falling down in the wrap and we got a lot of wet tights. However, since she was about 6 weeks old we'd used the prefolds for night nappies every night, and never any problems with leaks and they were great during the days too. And the Proraps really contained everything - I think I actually would prefer them to the ME Rikki ones if you're using prefolds. I never got on very well with Rikki wraps, tho in my opnion, Airflows are the best wrap for other nappies.

But when my son was born, being a boy means the urine all goes to the front of the nappy, and then he loved to sleep on his tummy or roll to side, etc. And we had wet clothes all the time! It got soooo frustrating. I ended up switching over to fitted nappies, mainly just ordinary cotton Little Lamb ones and Motherease Airflow wraps, and the leaky nappies vanished. So I think it really depends on the baby - seems one kind of nappy doesn't always work for all children you might have!

hi all , just noticed this topic - my newchildminder (one day a week) is really fed up with washable napppies, and basically doesn't want me to use them ( make her feel sick?????) I ve used them through various nurseries and 3 dcs for 6 years. Anyone else met with the same resistance?

rusmum · 16/10/2008 12:00

DD naps on front and when she comes in with me sleeps on side (whilst attatched)! LOL

BBM thanks for advice

Chellsmum · 16/10/2008 12:32

rusmum easy peasy do the eco bumbles for about £14 or £15 for 5 or I think they are about £3 each. I use these both during the day and at occasionaly at night. You can boost them with whatever you want and so far I haven't had any leaks when using them. I got them initially when I was just starting out with reusables and didn't want a big outlay and wasn't sure but these are the ones that are in constant use.

bossykate · 16/10/2008 12:33

hello all

could you please tell me what would be the best source for second hand mother ease bedwetters or house of eden overnight undies?

i've checked ebay and nothing there.

thank you very much

BigBadMouseInHauntedHouse · 16/10/2008 13:10

rusmum yes tb are low rise IMO - lollipop, bambinex and Little Lamb are all higher or have more stretch to them. LL bamboo is best avoided unless you want a night nappy - really thick and takes days to dry. Lollipop bamboo are nice - the cotton versions of all will go hard though. Eco bumbles are fab .

bossykate - you don't see them 2nd hand very often . eBay won't list used cloth nappies any more.

try these

there are others but these are your best bet. Don't forget you can post a wanted on MN classifieds too...

bossykate · 16/10/2008 13:13

thank you

BigBadMouseInHauntedHouse · 16/10/2008 13:14

There are some on the second link

isaidboo · 16/10/2008 14:14

I think someone's selling some mother eden overnight thingies on the mumsnet for sale board at the mo.

rusmum - I have a couple of motherease one size you can have free for postage if you want to try them. 1 has a hole at one of the poppers, and the other has a popper missing. They are still perfectly serviceable and would give you an idea if you like them. I do not have the pop in boosters, but you could boost with a prefold folded rectangularly.

isaidboo · 16/10/2008 14:18

I bought an eco bumble for £3 and use some old shaped prefolds inside - works fine. Postage is free if you spend £5 on the easypeasy website.

rusmum · 16/10/2008 14:30

thanks isaidboo that be great.

eco bumbles good then????

isaidboo · 16/10/2008 14:34

e mail me shazronnie at yahoo dot co dot uk and I can post them tomorrow.

rusmum · 16/10/2008 14:46

BBM is £20 good for 10 VERY wel used stained sandies???

bossykate · 16/10/2008 15:07

thanks for the heads up isaidboo, i've emailed.

babyjjbaby · 16/10/2008 15:09

what are the best sort of boosters to get am thinking of getting the £1 ones off that site just linked to are they any good

BigBadMouseInHauntedHouse · 16/10/2008 15:12

rusmum - hmmmmm...maybe if it included postage. They can go rather scrunchy after a lot of use - I have picked up three brand new for £7.99 (not inc postage) twice now on eBay.

If there is a photo have a look at the sandy's label - on the normal sandy's the whale is blue but after lots of use they go pale blue

babyjjbaby · 16/10/2008 15:22

bbmihh do what are the best cheap boosters which i can order today as u r the expert lol

BigBadMouseInHauntedHouse · 16/10/2008 15:50

What do you need to boost and by how much babyjj? I tend to go for microfibre dishcloths

rusmum - you've taken over that board

babyjjbaby · 16/10/2008 15:54

not sure by how much for a night it is thinking bout just getting bout 4 or 5

BigBadMouseInHauntedHouse · 16/10/2008 16:00

What night nappies do you have?

I tend to use bamboo or hemp for night. I boost my bumhuggers with EH hemp boosters because they go in easiest and my bumbles with a pad folded 1/2 bamboo terry square. I don't like the a fleece topped boosters - I prefer a separate liner.

tbh I think it is all down to personal preference though. I find terry boosters are a bit pointless ar night - too much bulk and not enough absorbancy IME.

babyjjbaby · 16/10/2008 16:08

i use a little ewe sqaure mothercare sqaure tots bots bamboo or fluffle anything really i haven't got much money so been looking for some second hand ones the junior joy ones i sold to rusmum are to bulky imo cos i don't like bulky nappies

BigBadMouseInHauntedHouse · 16/10/2008 16:19

Someting like a swaddlebees or ellas house hemp booster would be wirth a try then - watch the length of them for your fluffles though. Bamboo is good too. I would go for second hand hemp though - no prewashing to deal with.

I tend to go down the budget route with boosters - I;d definitely recommend the microfibre dishcloths - nice and thin and quite thirsty for what they are. Just depends what you can find second hand. Even a facecloth will work.

babyjjbaby · 16/10/2008 16:24

right will try facecloth tonight then u haven't got any well used ones u would sell have u [cheeky cow emotion]
