He's my third, so I should have it sussed by now, but I need to ask a question about toilet-training ds2

He's only 23m, but seems ready. The others were much older and more mature when they trained. Ds2 has been training himself! He asks to go to the toilet, or tries to go by himself, and several times a week wears the same nappy for most of the day - keeping it dry. No sign of readiness with poos, though, but that may come if I actively toilet-train him.

My problem is what to do about school runs? I have to collect two children from different schools - narrow roads and narrow pavements, with hordes of families going both ways between the schools, so no chance of a discrete corner or drain if caught short - and the school run takes at least 45min, more often 1h. How do I work around it?

He's not ready if he can't last at least an hour between wee's.

I've no idea how long he can last, because I've not been acctively doing anything, just responding to his requests. I know he can sometimes hold on for a little while, as I've aksed him to do so in the buggy several times.

My DS can hold a wee for a good half an hour. If you pop him on the loo before you go, you should be fine. Before my DS was reliable, however, I stuffed a soaker in the front of his undies which saved his shorts 90% of the time. DS can hold a poo for the entire school day as he prefers his home toilet thankyouverymuch. All this by the ripe old age of 19 mth.
