My 8yr dd1 needs a short hair cut (repetitive nits) what would be in vogue?

I'm wondering if I'll get any responses but most 8yr olds would know what is "cool" or not. Unfortunately my dd1 is under diagnosis for Aspergers and wouldn't know what cool was unless it had come out of the fridge! She does however get extremely upset when she's called weirdo at school which happens too regularly. The last time her hair was cut she was off from school with school phobia for over a week! So what the hell is a good "cool" design for an 8 year old.

just make sure the hairdresser doesn't give her a big block fringe - they very rarely look good and take forever to grow out. Soft layers are nice - are you talking bob length or shorter?

MamaG · 01/10/2008 13:40

I'd say layered chin length bob

Easy to nit comb, not "boy" short and still looks pretty

Whatever V Beckham just did to herself.

I wouldn't if the change would upset her - I would come it every night if necessary. Boys still get nits you know...

If you must, and her hair is straight I would do a bob, get it cut into her neck.

Miyazaki · 01/10/2008 14:03

comb it every night...

Wouldn't leaving it longer but tightly plaiting it have the same effect?

HuwEdwards · 01/10/2008 14:35

a graded bob, short at the back, falling longer as it comes round the sides.

I have an 8 year old too, so I am curious about the answers you get on this thread. My dd has shoulder length hair and will not keep her hair tied up at school. Everyday I send her in with bunches or short plaits and every afternoon she has untied hair and it is in a scarecrow style. I need a good hair style for her too
