I am thinking about (finally) finishing mine and was curious if any other mums (or dads!) were doing theirs from home.

Hello! I'm completely new to this board but just saw this and had to post a reply.

I'm planning on doing my A levels at home. I already have a set of a levels but unfortunately went a little 'wild' and didn't achieve the grades I'm capable of achieving. Went to music college, left, fell pregnant. My new plan is to do A levels again (or take new ones) from home. I contacted my former 6th form tutor and she advised me to do it through a distance learning company. However, I do not wish to do it this way as it's really expensive and I can't afford it. I still have text books and know that I can learn the modules using these books. Luckily, I have a few friends who did exceptionally well and have given me their old A level notes (they're all finishing their degrees this year), so I'll have a lot of people to turn to for help. One more problem is that the A levels I want to take/retake are maths/science based, meaning practical work and, obviously, I don't have a lab in my house! I'm not entirely sure about how to work around this but am going to phone my local colleges to see if there's any way I could use theirs. I'm really unsure about how all of this is going to turn out but I'm sure that I'll manage it with a bit of hard work and determination.

Which A Levels were you thinking of taking? Sorry I've rambled on a bit, I haven't found anybody else considering this before. I don't even know if you'll get this now since it's been months since your original post!

I'd also like to do an A Level from home. I have 3 A Levels that I did last year but my grades in 2 aren't as good as they could have been. I'm resitting a couple of modules this summer, so fingers crossed. I also sat one in January but had chronic 'morning' sickness through the previous night and didn't get any sleep, so another crap grade.

My son is due in August and I'd like to go to University when he's a about 2, so I'm just researching any qualifications I can do from home to improve the chances of me actually getting into Uni.
