ds 3 keeps pooing in pants - how do I stop this?

He's been potty trained for about 3 months now and always does wee-wees in the toilet, but for the last 2-3 weeks he has done a poo in his pants almost every day without fail. He knows what he's doing,as afterwards he'll tell me he's done it, and when I ask him where he should do poos he always says in the toilet. I've tried incentives, but he just doesn't seem to be able to get the hang of it. Why? And what can I do to move him on from this?

oooo having the same problem here so will be watching with interest(sorry can't help, but bumping thread out of hope )

I have only been potty training for coming up to a month, and DS isn't bad with wees in the toilet but is reluctant to do a poo on there.
He'll happily tell me where he should do a poo and always says sorry after he's done it in his pants, but he's just not keen on the toilet.

Lets hope someone wise will be along soon

if its any consoltaion
My dd is exactly the same- but was pooing in her pants 6-7 times a day
I took her to doctors who put her on lactulose to clear her out and to get her pooing normally- she has so far pooed on toilet 3 times in a week- and prob done it about 3 times in her knickers.
She clearly is very scared and its more like when she is about to poo she cries and I lift her on the loo and get her to push it out- she is reluctant but when she does, she gets a smiley face on chart and 10 smiley faces we are getting her a scooter.

Not sure if it will work- but I think the key to it is not to stress too much and eventually they will do it on the toilet.

HTH
It is very hard and you have my sympathies

It's hard alright and i'm very at those who can potty train in a few days.

Toilets are all i think about at the moment

Still, i shall be persistant and fingers crossed things will work out in the end. I have until after christmas before DS starts nursery so hopefully plenty of time to get things right.

I hope things go well and your DD earns her scooter lilymolly
