What would you do? I'm all packed to leave to join DH in Dorset where his mum is in hospital having just had a stroke. Have booked a hotel for tonight. DD has a cough - I saw the doc yesterday and she said it's fine but this morning dd has a temp of 37.9 - not huge i know, but still a temp. seems otherwise v chirpy - wants to bf alot. should i stick to plan or stay home? dd is 15 mo.

Could she just be teething? Teething can bring on a nasty cough and temperature with no other symptoms? If she is happy, it can't be anything bad.

I'd be worried if your MIL was on a ward with people whose immune systems are surpressed, cancer, etc but its less of a concern on a general ward.

37.9 is a very low grade temp so I'm sure your DD willl survive.
I'd stick to your plans and check whether they will allow your DD into hospital to visit MIL.

My FIL was in hospital recently and although DD wasn't allowed in to visit him, the fact that we had travelled all the way from London to be nearby made him feel better. My DH was also grateful for the moral support and to have DD and I around to talk to when he wasn't in hospital visiting.
