ds has JUST started picking/biting his nails how can I get him to stop before it becomes impossible

none of us in the family do this so at a bit of a loss

is it because he's nervous or something

he seems perfectly fine

why do they start doing this?

he's 6

My DS2 does this - he is always picking even when he is watching the tv. Think it is boredom.

Keep his nails as short as possible - cut them at least once a week.

If he has dry/loose skin around the nails, put some good hand cream on him last thing at night to clear it up.

his nails are now very short but will try the cream tonight thanks
