My 3 week old won't sleep at night unless in my bed!

I have a 3 week old baby girl who is breastfed. She always falls asleep in my arms and is put into her moses basket. In the day time this is fine and she will sleep for between 1 and 2 hours before waking for another feed. At night time, however, I settle her in her basket downstairs and then carry her up to the bedroom. When she wakes for the first time I feed her and she falls asleep with me. When I put her into the moses basket she lasts for less than 5 minutes before waking and screaming. I have persevered with this and tried dummies (she won't take one), warming the blankets, elevating the moses basket so that her head is higher than her feet, covering the hard mattress with a soft fleecey blanket... I am at my witt's end... my husband is sleeping in the spare room and my beautiful baby is in bed with me sleeping like an angel, but I am not sleeping at all as I am scared of suffocating her and also because I am stressed about the whole situation!
I know it is early days and I am not on my own with worries about my first baby... but PLEASE... any advice is gratefully received!

hi hun its just a case of perservering, and finding how she likes to sleep. How does she sleep when shes in bed with you?

My DD now aged 3 - loved sleeping on her tummy to go to sleep refused to sleep any other way. i would lay her tummy down on me, and she would snuggle and sleep, but then lay her on her back in moses basket (due to reading about not good to lay on front) but after week 2, i lay her on her front in her moses basket and not looked back tbh. its just a case of finding out how she likes to sleep.

Sorry you are finding things stressful though. Have you considered a bedside cot? They are cots that have a side that can be lowered so you can have cot next to and level with your bed - allowing you to sleep next to your baby and feed on demand but not have to have her in bed with you all night.

I have done that with my two - I have no. 3 due in 5 weeks and will do the same. It allowed my dh to stay in his bed but gave me the convenience of co-sleeping. In fact we padded the small gap between or beds and really the cot became an extension of our bed.

3 weeks i've got 9mo twins who end up in bed with me every night apparently it does come to an end at some point
