I wish I wasn't here again, last time I posted my ds was three and a half, now he is nearly 4 and he is still in nappies

Last time I got lots of lovely messages of support saying how late their respective dcs had been with toilet training. Any one up for that again?
Seriously I feel quite worried about it now, my health visitor has advised me to take him to the gp to rule out physical causes, fair enough. He starts pre school next week, and he is probably going to be the only one in nappies
I know that I have tried every method suggested to me, and that it is not his fault, and it will happen in time. I still can't shake a feeling that I have failed some how, and that the teacher will think that we are bad parents who haven't bothered to toilet train our child.
I will tell her what we have tried, but still, I really thought he would be sorted by this time...

Hello, my DS is 4 in November, and still in pull-up nappies. He's great with wees, always goes in the loo, but has only managed 2 poos in the toilet. About 6 months ago I put him in underpants, but the stress of all the accidents caused him to hold in all his poos. He then had an overflow situation, and poos leaked out about 6 times a day. I took him to a GP, they prescribed some lactulose syrup, which is supposed to sort of clump it all together I think. Anyway, being back in nappies helped him de-stress, and he is back to one accidental poo a day, better than 6, but still really, really annoying. He will be wearing pull-ups when he is 4 I'm sure, which is a bit awful, but not much we can do apart from lots of encouragement.

Sorry to hijack this, I was begininng to think it was me and I was a failure. My eldest son turned 3 last month and I have been trying on and off for over a year. I am now in the process of potty training him and the 18month old at the same time. I feel under pressure as he should have started nursery - but because we just moved I haven't found him a spot (or tried very hard) as I didn't want him to be the only one still in nappies.
My main worry now is that I am 5 weeks away from giving to my 3rd child I am getting worked up and stressed at all the accidents. Which he has picked up and now he will sit on the toilet but not do anything and when he gets off the toilet the accidents happen. Then I have my mother who comes to help out during the day telling me how me and all my siblings were all potty trained by 10 months. Just to make sure I know how much of failure I have been twice.
