HELP! 2 under 2 please....im pregnant and have 7 1/2 mth DD. feeling very anxious!

hiya,
today i found out im 4 weeks pregnant. our lovely dd1 is 7 1/2 months old, so when baby is born she will be 16 1/2 months. I feel happy as we do want more than one baby, but how hard is it with 2 under 18 months?
any tips and inspirations would be great. i feel like we have coped really great with dd1 and she has been a very 'easy' baby. DH is delighted!

Congratulations. I had my second child when my first was 18 months old (a caesarean) It was busy for the first while, but you manage. The hardest thing is the lack of sleep. I never could manage to get the two children to sleep at the same time for their naps during the day (so that I could have a rest) but I would try and go to bed early at night - even it meant 8 0'clock. I would try and prepare the vegetables etc for the evening meal in the morning and do as much housework as possible when no 2 baby was sleeping for one of her naps and spending time with my eldest child when no 2 was having her second nap. My two children are 6 and 4 and it seems no time since their were babies. They are good friends - which I think comes with being so close in age. All the best - don't worry - it will sort itself out and you will adapt your own routine.

hm, ys and ms are 21 month apart, but had a big agegap between es and ms..and yes that was easier...however, I have heard that the younger the first one is, the easier it is with the 2. one, because the first one never got to the stage where they feel they lloose out on attention...but of course, everyone does expereince things differently! Best wishes to you..,. and I am sure all will work out fine...but yes, it will always be hard work...but most of the time it is with Babys anyway...

My DD will be 17 months when DC3 arrives in November. I have read lots on here about having 2 under 2, and most of it good. I'm not kidding myself that it's going to be easy, but I suppose like everything, you just get into the groove and it works.

Good point about the sleep concepta. I need to try and get into some sort of routine with daytime naps.

My DH is away three or four nights a week, so am dreading coping with them all on my own and having to get DS out to school in the morning (he is 6 at least so pretty self sufficient).

But most of the time I am in denial about it, telling myself it will be fine

There are 17 months between my 2 dd (now 2 and 3) and it was hard to start with but when 2nd was a few months i managed to get them - and me - into bed for a couple of hours in the afternoon. Bliss - once i got them to sleep!
My DH works late shifts every other week so i was on my own for those nights. Basically Iused to go to bed as early as I could and we had great routines - even now the girls are in bed at 7pm every night.
There were a few difficult times like when they both have a cold or something. I went back to work 2 days a week when 2nd dd was 6 months and i remember being knackered. Now they are really close and it is easy peasy - apart from when they are scrapping.
Glad i had them so close now even though it wasn't planned quite like this.

Hi! Come over to the 2 or more under 3 thread- it was 2 or more under 2, but the kids went and had birthdays.

I have a 16mth age gap, i won't lie and say it's always easy, but my youngest is 10mths now and i'm back in work part time. They are starting to play together, which is great fun to watch, and DS2 eyes just light up when he sees DS1.

Sleep deprivation is the hardest, but i keep telling myself it'll pass. In a few years time there'll be no more pushchairs, nappies, sleeplessness...just 2 lovely boys.

I have 13 months between my DDs.DD1 is now 18 months and DD2 is almost 5 months.
It was very hard to start especially in regards to sleep.We found it harder as DD2 was lactose intolerant so we had bouts of screaming every night.
Now almost 5 months down the line and things are easier.Both children go for naps in late morning and both are in bed by 9.30 and sleep through.
Its all worth it especially when DD1 gives DD2 a big cuddle and kiss like this morning
