SLEEEEEEEEEP!!!
Sleep sleep and sleep some more. Every time the baby closes its eyes, leap into bed!
Do NOT entertain. If someone comes round tell them to stick the kettle on and if they offer to do anything, yell YES PLEASE and throw the hoover at them before they change their mind.
Don't worry about the state of the house. It doesn't matter.
Go with your instincts and don't let anyone tell you what to do - but ask for advice, tips, etc if YOU want to. Just don't let anyone put you down.
Cry when you want to. (you WILL want to and that's normal!)
Don't push your husband away. You have just become a mother and he has just become a father. You don't know any more than he does, so don't treat him like an idiot who doesn't know anything. Don't think you are the only one who can do anything for the baby. Learn together.
Don't bother changing the baby's clothes every time they get a speck on them, or he throws up a bit - it's not worth it and he won't catch anything from a crusty sleepsuit!
If he's asleep and he poos - LEAVE HIM!!!! Deal with it when he wakes up, it won't kill him. (unless he's got nappy rash or something!)
Have time to yourself - go for a nice bath, or a walk when you're up to it. Get into the habit from DAY ONE of it being just as normal for his dad to have him as it is for you to have him. The first time anyone asks if your husband is 'babysitting', kick them. A dad does not 'babysit' his child.
And loads more, but I fear I've gone a bit ranty.
