My dd

Gets the dustpan and brush out and cleans up her own crumbs.
She tidies all her toys away before bed
She gone to sleep on her own! (only the last two nights but shhhh it might last)
She says "well done" mummy when i manage to eat all my dinner/drink my drink nicely/or colour in a picture.

And then she went and wet herself publicly the other day in a cafe!

Caligula · 16/02/2005 23:32

DD comes into bedroom at 1am, and after waking me up, snuggles up to me and cuddles me and says "my lushly mummy" and then DS comes in 2 hours later and wakes me up and then shouts at me and DD to move over because "I want to be next to you Mummy because I love you!"

Smug smug smug smug smug smug smug.

Then both of them wee at some stage in the night and I am woken by pee on my belly and/ or back.

And then the alarm goes off and I realise I have had only about 4 hours unbroken sleep.

Hmmm.

My DS (one on Friday) took a wipe out of the packet and then proceeded to wipe his changing mat up and down! ....And then he tried to eat it

Bozza · 17/02/2005 11:21

LOl Dior you are so right. Its the way I have been brought up.

tarantula · 17/02/2005 11:22

Well my dd doesnt bother with the wiping bit she jsut goes straight to the eating

expatinscotland · 17/02/2005 11:23

Mine's very first words were 'I want that'.

And she LOVES shoes! What a dear.

Gwenick · 17/02/2005 11:25

ooo I like this thread - allowed to be smug for once without being accused of being a show off

DS1 - people ALWAYS comment about how well behaved he is out of the house. LIke others on here he's especially good in restaraunts and cafes

Is really good at tidying up (he'll be 5 in september and yesterday completely tidied up his bedroom which he'd completely trashed with his brother).

Helps get the changing things out for his brother, and puts the wipes and stuff back again after I've finished (been doing this since DS2 was born ie since he was just turned 3)

Has never needed reigns or even to hold my hand when walking outside, walks along next to me and always stops at roads, asks at pedestrian crossings if it's ok to cross and then thanks me afterwards "For letting me cross"

Both DS's are good at playing together, can be left playing upstairs in their room (stairgate on of course) with just the baby monitor 'to listen' to them for 2hrs+ at a time

DS2 - hmm still only 14 months so haven't got so much to be smug about...............started crawling at 7 month, found on the 4th step at 7 1/2months and walked at 10 months.

snafu · 17/02/2005 11:28

Ds self-actualised all on his own this morning. Before his nap, too!

tarantula · 17/02/2005 11:35

ahhhh cant do it cant do it goes against the grain too much. and Im not even British (but then I think us Irish are just as bad....its the Catholic guilt thing)Must go off and actualise

PS DD is the bestest toddler in our house

highlander · 17/02/2005 18:08

keep it coming ladies, I haven't laughed so much in ages!!

Very much hoping DS will be as tidy as all the toddlers here (unlikely given his parental genes...)

Caligula · 17/02/2005 18:25

DS looks at chocolate in supermarkets and says "I WISH I could have some, Mummy, but I know I can't".

smug smug smug smug smug

Amanda3266 · 17/02/2005 18:28

My DS (just 2) sleeps 12-13 hours a night (true) and is just the loveliest, cutest, cuddliest toddler in the world. Sorry - only one of those and I got him.

my ds is heavily into rhyming and started singing mums got a fat bum" I said to him do you thinkI have got a fat bum and quicker than his dad could have ever managed he said" You think you have a fat bum but I don't - I think it is lovely".

How I envy his future wife if he is saying this at 4!!

piffle · 17/02/2005 18:36

my 2yo dd brings me the nappy and wipes and lies there perfectly still, then puts the nappy in the bin afterwards!
She puts away the washing
She sleeps 13 hrs at night and 2 in the day
She never cries and has never had a tantrum.
she cares about her clothes, which makes me happy as I get to buy more
Dinner is ready, babies are washed and ready for bed
I have MN time and the Gymboree sale on my favourite line is on
Now all I need is a fireman...

Marina · 17/02/2005 18:41

I hope you realise I have nearly ruptured myself reading this while at work! Very funny ladies.

iota · 17/02/2005 18:41

ds1 says that I am the best mummy in teh world and teh most beautiful.

So that's sorted.

The rest of you are also-rans

snafu · 17/02/2005 18:42

No, no, no, iota - we are bacteria. Get it right

iota · 17/02/2005 18:43

nah - you lot might be bacteria - I'm the best mummy in the world

iota · 17/02/2005 18:44

mind you if we were amoebas or is it amoebae we could self actualise by splitting in two and reproducing ourselves

Lowryn · 17/02/2005 18:45

My beautiful, smart and generally wonderful 3yr old DD asked me what the man was doing selling magazines in the street. I explained he didn't have a home and was trying to make some money. She told me that she still had some money from her birthday and didn't need it, maybe he could buy a house with it....awwwww

She also shocked me today by signing the word biscuit when I asked her if she wanted one. She loves Something special.

My equally fantastic DS (9 months)is a champion swimmer (in his rubber ring) and can climb the stairs faster than I can (eeek)

Ahhhh, that felt good!

Surfermum · 17/02/2005 18:49

No, no, no Amanda. I have the loveliest, cuddliest, cutest toddler in the world. Mine sleeps 13 hours each night, doesn't have tantrums and she can swim a length. Ner nerdy ner ner.

fisil · 17/02/2005 18:59

At ds' 2 year developmental check the HV pointed to a hat & said "where does that go?" He didn't answer straight away so she turned to us and said "soon he might started stringing 2 or 3 words together." Then she turned back to him and said "does it go on your feet?" To which ds said "no, it's a hat, it goes on your head. Shoes go on your feet or wellies if you want to splash." Sooo smug!

Ds' godmother took off his shirt yesterday at bathtime and put it on the bathroom floor. He said "no, goes in laundry basket" picked it up and ran through to put it in the laundry!

Every evening we sit down to chocolates/sweeties before milk time. We give ds the packet and he always offers us one first. And tonight he even opened my cadbury's mini roll to help me!

I like to be smug every now and again (and I'm not even going to mention the tantrums, broken stuff, refusal to wear what he's asked etc.)

alexsmum · 17/02/2005 19:11

i've just been to parents evening and i'm feeling smug because my ds is doing so well.after 5 months in reception class he is going to be moved on to year one words (on reading scheme) his writing is coming on well, his behaviour is good and he has lots of friends.
