Older parents - Is it fair on the child?

Had a BFP a couple of weeks ago which came as a huge shock as I thought to be infertile and never acheived a 'natural' pregnancy with my ex altho' have had an IVF pregnancy which resulted in twin dd's 7 years ago. Now with new DP and lo and behold am pregnant. Big dilema I am now 40 and my DP 54 so apart from all the natural concerns about health issues and having a child at my age, is it fair for the child to have such 'aged' prents, despite being young at heart! Any experiences shared will be appreciated.

I had ds when I was 40.
I thought I would be like a granny at the school gates
My dd is 10 yrs older than him,

honestly it's not a problem, although I am a bit more tired with ds.

Also I am not unusually old at the school gates..or maybe I just look young

I think the fact that you're considering the question means you'll be a fine parent!

Maybe you aren't quite as energetic as you were at 20 (maybe you are!), but equally you've probably got more patience, experience, money, friends with kids, etc.

I had older parents and grandparents (parents were both youngest children, so all grandparents were in their 70s when I was born), but their attitudes and social circles were way more important than their ages.

My Mum was 40, and my Dad was 46. And tbh it has never been a problem at all
