Ds2 is 7 months and been poorly over last 5 weeks with ear infections, upper resp infection, teething, tummy ache. Over last 4 nights he has been crying nearly every hour, really distressed. Been able to settle him only for him to wake again. At times he is crying, crawling round cot etc but still has eyes closed. He pulls at his ears in his sleep and seems so unhappy. In the daytime he is a different baby, happy and quite content. Went to dr again today as been going on for a long time to be told that ears didnt look very red but she took a swab of his ear wax. Tonight again is a repitition of the previous 4 nights, he is crying and crawling round cot with eyes closed. Been pulling at ears etc. Settles without extra milk.

Help please because i dont know what to do now as feel stupid going to drs.

I don't think there is a magic wand. Pain killers and patience. Its so hard when they are little and in pain. Sleep deprivation is a killer!

My doctor told that the redness of the ear doesn't really indicate how painful the ear infection is.
Are you giving him plenty of carpol/nurofen to help with the pain?

thanks. Will get dose of calpol ready (he hates it) didnt give it to him because dr made me feel like i was making it up. She proudly announce that she doesnt believe in anti biotics either. Very young and newly qualified. didnt know that the redness isnt an indcator of pain. He has scratched the exterior from pulling it so much, is wimpering now.
