Help, DS1 has never been brilliant at remembering to go to the toilet but at least if you remebered you could pass the day without too many accidents.

Over the last couple of weeks the situation has really detoriated with him appearing to make no effort. He will say he doesn't need to go and then when you force him he obviously he does. Or he will say he has gone when he hasn't. Or he will go to the toilet and make no effort to go to the toilet. Or he will demand that he sits on the toilet which is really uncomfortable.

Today we went to the toilet, he produced some pee then half an hour later he wets himself. Par for the course.

I know it could be attention seeking, or an infection though he doesn't appear to have any other symptoms.

Any thoughts ?

take a few days and take him back to the beginning

take him to the toilet every hour or so .. heap lots of praise when he manages it, even bribe him with something for going a whole day without accidents, then a week .. you can even try a sticker chart

why do you think it might be an infection?

it might be worth taking him to the dr's, as a friends ds went through similar and it turned out to be a water infection.
