SATs results

If a 14 year old (year 9) received level 5's, 4's and a 3 (pe) in all her sats results, what does this mean for the future? does it mean she'll have to sit a low GCSE paper or are these good results?

It says she's reached her targets in the level 5s but all her friends seem to have achieved 6's and 7's and I've been told by two different people today that level 5 is really low??

Levels 5 and 6 are the expected levels for 14 yo. 7 and above is above expected levels and 4 and below are below expected levels.

Level 5 would be at the lower end of the expected attainment but still acceptable.

Hmm, not sure. My DS reached level 5 in most subjects for his sats which is above average, but he's 11 and is in yr 6.

Normally it says at the bottom of the results page what are the expected results for a child of that age, ie, below national expectations, in line with or above.

Does it say anything like that on your DDs?

Hmm

Is there a web site that explains SATs levels?

tegan · 09/07/2009 21:34

An average for yr 6 is 4B, anything in the 5's is above average and anything in the 3's is below average.

My dd got science and maths 4A Average and 5A for her english but due to alot of the sats being marked wrong across the country dd's teacher is getting everyones marks rechecked by another independent board.
