bit of an odd question perhaps - do students take laptops into lectures/seminars these days?

I start a PGCE in Sept and I was wondering whether it would be ok to take a lap top into lectures/classes to take notes as it makes more sense for many reasons.
is this ok these days?
it is 20 years when I was at universisty lectures and the laptop didn't exist

ummm. yes. I've got a masters aswell (almost) . I did the degree, then started worink in a law firm. I hated it. I wanted to do law to make a difference but all I was doing was photocopying and filling in forms. I felt useless so I went into paeds nursing. It was really hard coping with shifts and ds, childcare was a nightmare, my aunt died, then my gran, my mum had a nervous breakdown, I had a horrid time. Then I caught glandular fever, I was really ill for ages after with different things I was catching off the wards. I took time off, got bored and went to do a MSc, I have coursework to do. I was diagnosed with ME a few months ago as I'm still tired, not all the time though. I don't want to go back to the nursing course and the shifts and was offered a place on a radiography course. It's less hours, almost no shifts, same pay, longer holidays that coincide with ds's school holidays.

I'd love to study medicine at some point though.

oh me too, but im waaayyyy not clever enough for that.

Good on you for managing all of that and everything else, I only just coped with my nursing degree and i think a lot of that was down to my exceptional tutor

Thanks . I get so bored when I work. I always want to be learning new things. It's sad isn't it! I know I'll have to join the real world and get a job eventually (once the funding runs out that is).
