DD1 (nearly 6) has only ever let me near her hair with a hairdryer twice in her life. She did however let me straighten it one for a party with my GHD's.

Once in a blue moon won't harm but I like to leave children's hair natural as they will do enough damage to it themselves as teenagers!

have you ever fancied tonging it?

Don't possess tongs!

DD1 just won't sit still long enough to do anything decent to her hair, it is a birds nest the majority of the time. Shame because she has the most gorgeous strawberry blonde long hair.

I would worry about the heat but if they want diff. hair without using heat I can tell you from personal experience that wet straight hair wrapped round cut up old tights and left overnight will go really 80s perm curly, but you can brush it out a bit for normal curly that will gradually fall out over the course of a day.

the curls, not the hair!!

Wouldn't use tongs, curling irons, ghds etc but would possibly do rag ringlets

yes. we have been known to straighten dd's beautiful locks for a wedding once, and a party once, NOT a soft play one,but a proper grown up family party.
she loves it.
aged not quite four, she was also allowed the full works makeup at her aunts wedding.

lovelysongbird · 09/08/2008 23:13

misdee · 09/08/2008 23:17

have striaghtened dd1 hair for parties.

i love her hair naturally as it falls into loose curls, but she prefers it straight. she is 8 though.

I straighten DD's hair most days with my GHD's. She gets very hot when she sleeps and usually wakes up with a mop of candy floss on her head, for us it's easier to straighten it than to spray it with water and comb the knots out.

DD is 5 and I've been doing it this way for a couple of years. Her hair's in lovely condition and isn't damaged at all.

Mines a boy with short hair, so, no. BUT I dod colour it for parties. He has very blonde hair and food colouring works a treat, its V cheap, harmless to his skin and washes out. I use a hair dryer on cool to dry it on to the hair otherwise it comes off on every thing he touches.
