do you think that easy babies equal lazy children?

ive been really lucky with dd she is very easy going, she is now 18 months, and im staring to wonder if this laid back attitude will continue for the rest of her life and well will she be a bit lazy at school?

if she is fair enough, i won't try and push her or anything, just wondered what your experience of easy babies are when they become children ?

Um well, I think all children are different. Ds was a really easy baby and a terrifying toddler, easy going definitely didn't describe him at the age of two. Dd was very hard work as a baby, not a bit of trouble since she turned two but, I don't think it's necessarily always that way.

Ds1 was a very easy baby. Easy going, easy natured, easy to entertain, easy to feed - even did easy to predict pooey nappies.

He is now the child that causes old men to chuckle at me and say "Gorry, you've your hands full with that one, eh?" (Code for "Thank God that child's not mine")

No I think easy baby equals lucky mummy!

Ds was tricky as a baby, was ok ish as a toddler once he could communicate a bit and is pretty easy as a pre-schooler. So it can all change.

My DS was a great baby. Slept well (used to have one feed at 5am but then slept until 9am so I always had a lie in!)

Now he's 6 and he's the most active child I've ever known (to the point the school had him see an EP to see if he had a mild form of ADHD but agreed he's just active) He's a real morning person (didn't get that from his parents I can tell you!) and never sits still. Don't get me wrong, he's a great kid just like he was a great baby, but in a different way!

BTW, a health visitor once told me there is no such thing as a 'good baby' just good parents , so loving your work!

In my experience it would have to be a resounding YES! DD1 was the easiest baby, just so good we called her our little angel because she was so easy. Never did anything wrong- just a happy very advanced child. Never had a tantrum ever but she was speaking in full sentences by 15 months. BUT now at 8 she is so lazy. She is still bright and in all the top sets at school but she knows she is bright and so coasts through school just doing the bare minimum to get by. I also noticed from a pyhsically active point of view DD1 never kicked much in the womb and was similarly lazy when born, DD2 never stopped kicking and is the most physically active child ever.

Maybe there is something in it...

DD1, uptight, demanding baby. Midwife said the day she was born 'that baby knows her own mind'. Since then has been quite a little 'achiever'. She is very independent, wants to do everything now and on her terms.

DD2, extremely easy baby, hardly knew we had her. Has developed tantrums now she is almost 2, but is the laziest baby I know. She is so lazy, she prefers you to feed her (including toast!) and instead of taking her own dummy out, she'll just spit it out of her mouth and expect you to remove it for her! So for me that is very true

No - DD was so easy as a baby, DS was the baby from hell. DD still easy going at 9, DS (10) still 'a challenge' (as dh and I say on our more positive days) - both are in the top groups at school, with DD doing more in terms of work and applying herself to earn her place there.
