DS1 is nearly 6 so he could probably manage lace with a bit of intensive training.

talking of shiny shoes I saw a fab pair of patent lilac shoes (for me!) in clarks today

Thanks for this thread. Completely forgot about shoes lol

Oh yes!!!!!! My boys had the most gorgeous navy Kickers with blue laces a couple of years ago but they are a major pita to put on. Not sure their rec teacher would thank me if we got the lace ups again but I see they're doing velcro ones-hmmmmm.

Going to get DS's week after next, Clarks is busy for the whole holiday period but usually quiter at night as open till 8 like Mothercare.

They dont have much choice for boys though as others have said. I dont buy sandals for DS so he will need new to go back in as was a half size and may have grown since his last check. Doesnt help he is tiny feet wise, so had the choice of just two pairs last time we went.

Have already got them for dd and ds2 (ds2 starting school so his first pair, dd starting secondary so wanted her to have new ones to start with though last years scuffed ones probably still fit...) Ds1 will have to go back in his old ones (hopefully they will still fit) and I'll get him new ones in a few weeks if necessary. I've spent over £80 so far as both dd and ds2 needed sandals for their holidays (which were on sale luckily...)
