does it matter if your DC doesn't go the the pre school?

I am considering leaving my DD in her current private nursery until she starts school rather than send her to one of the local school nurseries for 2.5 hours a day. The only thing that has occurred to me is that will she find settling into school more difficult? Not sure if its the case every where but round here you can get school nursery places fairly easily but not necessarily reception places at your chosen school. DD has been at her nursery since she was 9 months and is very happy so don't want to move her now and then perhaps again when she starts school. Or am I worrying too much and she will adapt fairly quickly whatever we do?

a place at a school nursery doesn't guarantee you a place in reception anyway, so don't worry about that side of it.

I am sure that if it is a local nursery then she may well have friends from there going to her primary school anyway

That's what we are doing. DS1 will start school in September without having been to the school nursery. School "induction" meeting sort-of assumed everyone's been to the nursery - "Most of our children would know where the toilets are" etc etc but we are not fazed. He's happy at his nursery and I'm not moving him. Besides what sort of job lets you do 2.5 hours childcare a day? Not mine, and mine is already as flexible as I think humanly possible.

My dd1 only knew 1 other chld when she started Reception and it has not been an issue at all. I was really worried about it, but it has turned out absolutely fine.
