Should I still wean?

DS is just about to turn 6 months and he has been having 5 formula milk feeds during the day. Unfortunately he seems to have developed a formula intolerance so has been prescribed and hypoallergenic formula until he has tests at the childrens hospital at the end of August.

The thing is, he's never really had many full milk feeds but recently he has been taking even less and doesn't seem to want the rest of his feed or more after his feed. He does seem hungry at the time of his feed but only has about half of it. I thought that when your baby is ready to wean that one of the signs is that baby is still hungry after their main milk feeds.

Would it still be okay to wean DS? He's showing other signs like watching intently as we eat and chewing motions.

I don't know so wouldn't like to wrongly advise you. Has your GP or HV not given any help?

Why not try him on something innocuous like baby rice?

I think you need specialist help with this - my gut feeling is that he's not drinking all the formula because the hypoallergenic one tastes foul, so weaning won't make any difference to his intake, and maybe you'd be able to up it by using the formula disguised in porridge, cheese sauce etc.

My DS wasn't noticably hungry after his milk, but still embraced the concept of food with open arms at 6 months
